Considering that vegetables exports to the United States of America and Canada have been growing for the last years, we have been working in the development of hybrids that can fulfill the exigencies of those markets.
Leadership in the market
A classic example of the confidence developed and maintained by SAKATA in Mexico is the industry of frozen vegetables from "El Bajío" (States of Aguascalientes, Guanajuato, Querétaro and San Luis Potosí) in the center region of the country. SAKATA's Broccoli hybrids have been maintaining leadership for more than fifteen years, holding more than 80% of this particular market by fulfilling the requirements of this specialized industrial activity of the States of Guanajuato, Querétaro and Aguascalientes in Mexico. The expected hybrid characteristics from the point of view of their agricultural production and the high quality standards that are required by the frozen Broccoli industry to satisfy customer specifications in different countries all over the world, have been successfully fulfilled by SAKATA, who is considered one of the most important suppliers in this market.
Thinking in terms of the benefits for the grower and the final consumer, the introduction of our Cauliflower hybrids to the state of Puebla, Mexico, is another example of our commitment to innovation. Traditional opened pollination used to be practiced in the region. Considered a good option many years ago, open pollination became poorly efficient, very late and inferior in quality for consumers who constantly increase their expectations regarding vegetables consumption. With the introduction of these Cauliflower hybrids, the growers quickly detected the benefits of SAKATA's hybrids and made the change immediately. SAKATA has 80% of this market now.
Almost every grower that deals with Cabbage and Cauliflower has one business partner in common: SAKATA, not only in Mexico but all over the world. More than three out of four Cabbages that are consumed in Mexico come from hybrids developed by SAKATA. Producers in the north of the country, those located in the state of Michoacan and the important producing region in Puebla, they all prefer our varieties, which achive excellent results under local conditions without compromising the vegetables characteristics that consumers prefer.

We have concentrated not only on this Brassica specie family which has maintained a great leadership for many years. Backed by our experience, investigation and innovation philosophy, SAKATA is now introducing a new line of products with excellent results under local conditions. Cantaloupe Melons for different regions and climates in Mexico, and "Jalapeño" and "Poblano" chili peppers with excellent results and desirable characteristics of these traditional Mexican chili peppers are now available for local markets.
